The Weeki Wachee Hornets are taking a road trip to square off against the Hudson Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Weeki Wachee's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Hudson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Weeki Wachee's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Crystal River by a score of 3-0.
The team relied heavily on Jack Strong, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024. Christian Zahora was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Hudson played in-conference for the first time on Monday and got just the result they were looking for. They blew past Gulf 9-2. The win continues a trend for the Cobras in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won nine in a row.
Aiden Shuster made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Shuster was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Justin Mitchell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Ryder Tysko was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Caden Gillespie, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Weeki Wachee's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hudson, their record now sits at 6-11.
Weeki Wachee came up short against Hudson in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
