Meanwhile, Marshall County got themselves on the board against Columbia Academy on Friday, but Columbia Academy never followed suit. They breezed past the Bulldogs to the tune of 45-0. The Tigers pushed the score to 38-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs had no chance of recovering from.
Marshall County's win came from a few key players Montgomery Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tot Gardner, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries. Tyler Thompson was another key player, throwing for 107 yards and two TDs.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Marshall County proved: they limited Columbia Academy to a paltry 0.9 yards per carry. Marshall County's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.63 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 6.77 on average over their last five games.
Marshall County now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Montgomery Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
