Tyngsborough and Littleton are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. Tyngsborough will head out on the road to face off against Littleton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Littleton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Tyngsborough, who comes in off a win.
Tyngsborough barely beat Dracut the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Middies on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Kiley Hogan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carly Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Adrianna Arsenault was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Littleton fell victim to Maynard and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maynard. The matchup marked the first time this season in which Littleton was not able to get on the board.
Littleton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maeve Tule, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Tyngsborough pushed their record up to 2-0-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 7.3 runs thus far. As for Littleton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tyngsborough has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Littleton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Tyngsborough took their victory against Littleton in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tyngsborough since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
