The Darby Tigers will head out to challenge the Seeley-Swan Blackhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Darby snuck past St. Regis with a 40-34 victory.

McCoy Townsend continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 313 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Townsend is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 148 every time he's taken the field this season.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Darby was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 343 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 257 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Another reason for the win was Darby's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Oliver Long was the leader with 2.5.
Meanwhile, Seeley-Swan put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Superior with points to spare, taking the game 56-42.
Darby better focus on containing Blake Irwin and Quinlan McClure as the pair were huge in Seeley-Swan's win. Irwin threw for 285 yards and four TDs on only 19 passes, while McClure rushed for 154 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries. McClure's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. A healthy portion of Irwin's aerial production (91 yards to be exact) went to Kolten Zurmuehlen, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Darby's record is now 4-1. As for Seeley-Swan, their record now sits at 6-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Darby has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 310.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Seeley-Swan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 255.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Darby took a serious blow against Seeley-Swan when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 70-38. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
