Smithfield-Selma has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Smithfield-Selma comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last 12 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Smithfield-Selma suffered their biggest loss since November 27, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 52-4 defeat at the hands of Southern Wayne. Smithfield-Selma has not had much luck with Southern Wayne recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, C.B. Aycock's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 48-33 bruising from Fike. While losing is never fun, C.B. Aycock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Fike is ranked 126th).
Smithfield-Selma's loss was their 18th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-12. As for C.B. Aycock, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Smithfield-Selma took a serious blow against C.B. Aycock in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 59-11. Thankfully for Smithfield-Selma, Destiny Mason (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
