The Thornton Trojans will challenge the Adams City Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thornton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Thornton and Englewood, and Thornton kept the tradition alive. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 17-7 margin over the Pirates on Monday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ethan Stehle and Julio Grullat were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Stehle tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Grullat struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Stehle has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Stehle got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Grullat got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Grullat a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Ferreria, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Cesar Camacaro was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Thornton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Englewood only posted an OBP of .452.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Adams City took on Skyline on Saturday. The Eagles skirted past the Falcons 5-3.
Christian Ramirez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Adams City's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Ramirez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI.
Ramirez wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mauro Acosta, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
The win got Adams City back to even at 4-4. As for Thornton, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-6.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Thornton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .496. However, it's not like Adams City struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Thornton suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Adams City in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
