Fairfield is 0-9 against Delone Catholic since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fairfield Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Delone Catholic Squires at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fairfield had to endure an 11-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on York Catholic with a sharp 21-0 victory on Friday.
Fairfield can attribute much of their success to Dominic Smitley, who rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns. Fairfield also got a significant boost from Stephen Higgs, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.
Meanwhile, Delone Catholic can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They blew past Hanover 49-7 on the road.
Among those leading the charge was Gage Zimmerman, who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Zimmerman's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.
Fairfield's victory bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Delone Catholic, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Fairfield was taken down by Delone Catholic 42-7 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Fairfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
