Dunnellon and West Port are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Dunnellon Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the West Port Wolf Pack at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Dunnellon fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Trinity Catholic on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 59-51 to the Celtics.
Despite their loss, Dunnellon saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chris Henry, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Jheven Ford was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
West Port suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Dunnellon by a score of 60-58. West Port has struggled against Dunnellon recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Dunnellon's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-9. As for West Port, they dropped their record down to 10-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Dunnellon skirted past West Port 60-58 when the teams last played on Thursday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dunnellon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
