The Swansboro Pirates will head out to face off against the Croatan Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Swansboro is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Swansboro and Northside - Jacksonville, and Swansboro kept the tradition alive. The Pirates blew past the Monarchs 11-1 on Friday. Considering the Pirates have won four contests by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

DJ Schofield made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Swansboro's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Schofield was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Swansboro let Kevin Till and Mason Anderson run wild. Till went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Anderson went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Till is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Landen Jenkins, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Swansboro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Croatan duked it out with Eastern Randolph on Wednesday. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 4-3.
Harrison Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Thomas was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Augie Morris was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. James Garman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
Swansboro now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Croatan, their record now sits at 7-8.
Swansboro skirted past Croatan 2-1 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
