The Greene County Tech Golden Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Searcy 47-14. Greene County Tech has struggled against Searcy recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Tyler Strickland continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Searcy, throwing for 285 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Strickland was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards. Wade Moore also helped out as he racked up 112 receiving yards.
Greene County Tech's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Marion and 10-3 Benton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.5% over those games). As for Searcy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Greene County Tech will be playing in front of their home fans against West Memphis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Memphis presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greene County Tech in Arkansas (West Memphis is ranked 22nd, while Greene County Tech is ranked 111th). As for Searcy, they will head out on the road to face off against Benton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Benton is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
