The Vinal RVT Hawks will head out to take on the Cheney Tech Beavers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Vinal RVT will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Kaynor Tech, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over the Panthers on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since May 19, 2025.
Sophia Holt made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and five unearned) runs off 14 hits (and only one walk). Holt was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Zandra Golkowski and Grace Krug did most of the damage at the plate: Golkowski went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Krug went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Krug is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Charlotte Palma also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Vinal RVT kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cheney Tech, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Academy of International Studies 15-14 on Thursday.
Like Vinal RVT, Cheney Tech also got a great game from a two-way player: Ella Moskites. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Moskites was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Olivia Garreffa was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jaedalee Torres, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Vinal RVT has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for Cheney Tech, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Vinal RVT has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .522. However, it's not like Cheney Tech struggles in that department as they've averaged .504. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Vinal RVT got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Cheney Tech by a conclusive 18-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
