Argonaut's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alayna Critchfield led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 23 boards. Critchfield is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Kaylee Avila was another key player, putting up 17 points and five assists.
Argonaut smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Union Mine unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Liberty Ranch, falling 61-39. While losing is never fun, the Diamondbacks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 617th, while the Hawks are ranked 185th).
Argonaut will need focus on slowing down Adriana Cavallaro, one of several Union Mine players who made an impact when they last played. She went 7 of 15 en route to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamdyn Keeler, who posted seven points and five steals.
Argonaut has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Union Mine, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Argonaut has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 37 rebounds per game.
