The Ninilchik Wolverines had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their matchup on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 53-22 victory over Cook Inlet Academy. This was payback for Ninilchik, who suffered a 49-22 loss the last time these two teams met.
Among those leading the charge was Riley Tucker, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addi McCorison, who scored 14 points.
Ninilchik's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0. As for Cook Inlet Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Glennallen the next time they take the court. Ninilchik will host Glennallen at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024, while Cook Inlet Academy will host them at 5:30 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
