Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Bishop Diego Cardinals, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell to Redondo Union 29-23. Bishop Diego's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the defeat, Bishop Diego saw an underclassman step up: Oscar Mauia rushed for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
Redondo Union's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Ausmus, who picked up 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas London, who threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns.
Bishop Diego's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Redondo Union, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Bishop Diego does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Redondo Union will look to defend their home field on Friday against El Dorado at 7:00 p.m. El Dorado is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
