The Forsyth Home Educators Hawks will head out to take on the Walkertown Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Forsyth Home Educators is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Forsyth Home Educators got the win against Ambassador Christian School by a conclusive 16-1. Considering the Hawks have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Rebecca Cheek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Madelyn Evans was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Emma Groce, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
Forsyth Home Educators always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Walkertown fell victim to East Forsyth and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-0. The Wolfpack haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Macy Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.
Walkertown's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Forsyth Home Educators, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Forsyth Home Educators has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. However, it's not like Walkertown struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Forsyth Home Educators suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Walkertown in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
