Bethel hasn't had much luck against Sumner recently, but that could start to change  on Thursday. The Bison will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans  at 8:00  p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bethel was handed a heart-breaking three-point  defeat in their last  contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bonney Lake  on Friday. The Bison simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Panthers 45-6. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Bison just coasted through the last quarter.
 Bethel's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Evan Barnes, who threw for 329 yards and four  TDs while picking up 15.0 yards per attempt. 111 of those passing yards were hauled in by Jaidon Ortiz, who also brought in a  receiving touchdown.
 Meanwhile, while Sumner put up plenty of  points on Friday, the same  can't be said for Emerald Ridge. The Spartans breezed past the Jaguars to the tune of  50-0. The  victory was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won three  games in a row.
 Bethel's record now sits at 5-3. As for Sumner, their record is now an identical 5-3.
 Bethel was taken down by Sumner 42-14 when the teams last played  back in October of 2023. Can the Bison avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
