Canon City (Colo.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 14-13 victory over
Pueblo Centennial (Pueblo, Colo.) on Saturday. The Tigers captured the lead for good when it scored a touchdown.
After taking the lead on a
Avery Currington touchdown run, the Bulldogs went into halftime with a 7-0 lead. The Tigers scored the winning points with a touchdown that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, Canon City still trailed by 7 points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped CC pull out the victory.
Austin Douglas played well for the Tigers in the victory. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. He has now scored two touchdowns on the season.
Pueblo Centennial's Currington played well. He threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
When the two teams played each other last season, Canon City came away with a 49-41 victory.
The win was a nice bounce back for CC, which lost to Mesa Ridge last week, 35-24.
Canon City (4-1) goes up against Pueblo West in a 4A Foothills game matchup next week, while Pueblo Centennial (2-3) locks horns with Pueblo South also in a 4A Foothills game.
