The San Ysidro Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 59-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Olympian. While losing is never fun, San Ysidro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 876th, while Olympian is ranked 104th).
Olympian was led to victory by Tristan Anderson and Sammell Humphries. Anderson scored 18 points along with five steals, while Humphries dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Anderson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Walker, who scored nine points along with four steals.
San Ysidro has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Olympian, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 19-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Ysidro will square off against Otay Ranch at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Otay Ranch is on a four-game streak of home losses, San Ysidro a five-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. As for Olympian, they will head out on the road to face off against University City on Saturday.
