The Milford Tigers will stay at home for another game and welcome El Capitan/Centennial Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
Milford suffered their closest loss yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Rockwell by a score of 63-60.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Carson Cheney, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadler Barnes, who scored 13 points along with nine assists.
Speaking of assists, Milford were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, El Capitan/Centennial Academy entered their tilt with Ash Fork with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. El Capitan/Centennial Academy blew past Ash Fork 64-20 on the road. El Capitan/Centennial Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 22 points or more this season.
Milford's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for El Capitan/Centennial Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.
Milford couldn't quite finish off El Capitan/Centennial Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 53-51. Can Milford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
