The Camden County Bruins will head out to challenge the Currituck County Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Camden County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Camden County gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Greenbrier Christian Academy by a score of 7-3.
Audrey Jones was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Ellie Barker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Currituck County hadn't done well against Camden County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Currituck County blew past Camden County 11-3. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by eight runs or more this season.
Victoria Jones and Isabella Bartolotta did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double, while Bartolotta went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That double marked the first that Jones hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Cervantes, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Currituck County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Camden County pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Currituck County, their record is now 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Camden County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Currituck County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Camden County suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Currituck County in their previous meeting on Wednesday. Can Camden County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
