Basketball Recap: Everglades Skates Past Nova with Ease

There's no place like home for Everglades, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They claimed a resounding 69-31 win over the Nova Titans. For the Gators, this counts as revenge for the 71-53 victory the Titans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.

Everglades got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandon Johnson, Jr out in front who went 7 of 12 en route to 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance gave Johnson, Jr a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Bailey, Jr, who went 6 of 13 en route to 15 points and four steals.

Everglades smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Everglades is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Nova, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Everglades wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-55 victory against St. Pius X on the 27th. As for Nova, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Plantation at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Nova is facing Plantation at the right time seeing as Plantation is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
