Baseball Recap: Lowry Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sparks

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lowry). Everything went their way against the Sparks Railroaders on Saturday as the Lowry Buckaroos made off with a 15-5 win. With that victory, the Buckaroos brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

ReiCyan Grau made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also brought in three RBI, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor Peterson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Erick Valencia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.

Lowry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sparks only posted a batting average of .176.

Lowry has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.3 runs. Sparks' loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Lowry will venture away from home to square off against North Valleys at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games North Valleys has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Sparks, they will be playing at home against Elko at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Sparks has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
