It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Clovis East Timberwolves had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-14 win over Sanger. The win was familiar territory for Clovis East who now have three in a row.
Leading Clovis East to victory were Tommy Nix and Tyus Miller. Nix picked up 134 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Miller threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Nix hasn't dropped below 100 receiving yards for four straight games.
When it comes to explaining why Sanger lost, one person who can't be blamed is Israel Robles. Despite the final result, he rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Robles is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.
Clovis East's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Sanger, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Clovis East will head out on the road to face off against Clovis North at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Clovis North will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Sanger does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
