The Aquinas Academy Crusaders will be home for the holidays to greet the Geibel Catholic Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Aquinas Academy pushed their score all the way to 80 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Monessen 84-80. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Thursday (76), Aquinas Academy still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Geibel Catholic, who are still winless after their sixth game. They took a serious blow against Carmichaels on Friday, falling 72-42.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gary Tarbuk, who scored 14 points. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Kolencik, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Aquinas Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Geibel Catholic, they bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Aquinas Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Geibel Catholic in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, sneaking past 81-79. Does Aquinas Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Geibel Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
