The Western Branch Bruins are taking a road trip to square off against the Walsingham Academy Trojans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Western Branch will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Western Branch is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Deep Creek with a sharp 41-2 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bruins with their most commanding win of the season.
Ian Taylor and Zach Kincaid made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Taylor pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kincaid struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat, Taylor scored two runs while going 1-for-4, while Kincaid scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two runs gave Kincaid a new career-high.

In other batting news, Western Branch got a massive performance out of Logan Adams, who went 4-for-7 with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Adams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Markel Smith, who scored five runs and stole a base while going 4-for-6.
Western Branch kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 29 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Walsingham Academy faced Norfolk Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Walsingham Academy fell just short of Norfolk Academy by a score of 4-3. Trojans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bulldogs since on Friday.
Chandler Howlett was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base.
The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-4-1. As for Western Branch, their record is now 4-0.
Walsingham Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Western Branch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .509. It's a different story for Walsingham Academy, though, as they've only averaged .294. Will they be able to contain Western Branch's hitters?
Western Branch beat Walsingham Academy 6-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Western Branch repeat their success, or does Walsingham Academy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
