Softball Recap: Ider Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Ider made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Skyline, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Hornets put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 13-6 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Hornets have won 16 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brynley Traylor and Miklyn Troxtel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Traylor tossed five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Troxtel tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Traylor went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Troxtel scored two runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits Troxtel has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ider got a massive performance out of Makinley Traylor, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Traylor is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kahlan Greeson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Ider kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Ider's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-9-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Skyline, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-23 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ider will face off against North Sand Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Skyline, they will challenge New Hope at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
