Burroughs is 1-9 against Crescenta Valley since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Burroughs Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Crescenta Valley Falcons at 5:15 p.m. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Burroughs suffered their biggest defeat since December 27, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 68-42 defeat at the hands of Pasadena. While losing is never fun, Burroughs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Pasadena is ranked 37th).
Burroughs' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Elijah Orjuela, who scored nine points along with two steals, and Chase Kardosh who scored 12 points. That's the first time this season that Orjuela grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Landon Everhart, who scored three points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Crescenta Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 73-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oakwood. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
This is the second loss in a row for Burroughs and nudges their season record down to 13-11. As for Crescenta Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 18-6.
Burroughs might still be hurting after the 74-54 loss they got from Crescenta Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Burroughs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
