The Bucksport Golden Bucks will head out on the road to face off against the Dexter Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dexter took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bucksport, who comes in off a win.
Dexter will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Bucksport extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Golden Bucks were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over Foxcroft Academy. Fans of the Golden Bucks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Natalie Simpson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Lexi Raymond and Marina Keene did most of the damage at the plate: Raymond went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Keene got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Harvey, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bucksport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 26 runs the game before, Dexter was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They came up short against Mattanawcook, falling 9-1. The loss put an end to the Tigers' undefeated start to the season.
Bucksport's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. As for Dexter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Everything went Bucksport's way against Dexter in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Bucksport made off with a 15-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Bucks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
