They claimed a resounding 68-14 victory over Marcos de Niza on the road. That looming 68-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Seton Catholic yet this season.
Seton Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carmella Gallardo led the charge by scoring 21 points along with five steals. Sophie Morales was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight assists and eight steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Marcos de Niza struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Seton Catholic racked up 19 assists.
Seton Catholic pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Marcos de Niza, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seton Catholic will take on St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Mary's will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Seton Catholic is ranked 12th). As for Marcos de Niza, they will head out on the road to face off against Saguaro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Saguaro has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
