The Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Steward Spartans at 5:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Miller School of Albemarle can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Roanoke Catholic by a score of 37-29. The victory was just what Miller School of Albemarle needed coming off of a 76-44 defeat in their prior matchup.
Miller School of Albemarle's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Jackson, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Ella Ott was another key contributor, scoring five points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Steward scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Peninsula Catholic 75-15 at home. Steward has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.
Miller School of Albemarle's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Steward, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-9.
Miller School of Albemarle beat Steward 61-54 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Does Miller School of Albemarle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Steward turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
