The Bradley-Bourbonnais Boilermakers will square off against the Manteno Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bradley-Bourbonnais is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Bradley-Bourbonnais came up short against Andrew and fell 10-7. The Boilermakers have struggled against the Thunderbolts recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Kason Bynum made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Cody Freitas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Manteno sidestepped Pontiac for a 9-7 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Brendan Jedlicka looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Manteno got a big performance out of Tyler Buehler, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Buehler has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Borden, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Manteno's win bumped their record up to 19-7. As for Bradley-Bourbonnais, their loss dropped their record down to 17-14.
Bradley-Bourbonnais was able to grind out a solid victory over Manteno when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 7-2. Do the Boilermakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
