It was a good run, but the Hondo Owls unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Crystal City. Hondo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Crystal City apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Lyndsie Bosquez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds for Crystal City. Breana Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Hondo's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-9. As for Crystal City, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hondo will face off against Lytle at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lytle knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Hondo likes a good challenge. As for Crystal City, they will head out on the road to challenge Cotulla at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Crystal City is facing Cotulla at the right time seeing as Cotulla is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
