The North Duplin Rebels came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 48-39 win over Lakewood. For North Duplin, this counts as revenge for the 46-44 defeat Lakewood walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
North Duplin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Reece Outlaw, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Higginbotham, who scored 11 points.
Loss or not, Lakewood got some senior leadership from Honestee William and LaShauta Joyner. William scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Joyner. scored 13 points along with two steals. Joyner is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight.
North Duplin's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Lakewood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Duplin's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Rosewood at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Rosewood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 512th, while North Duplin is ranked 203rd). As for Lakewood, they will be playing at home against Hobbton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakewood is facing Hobbton at the right time seeing as Hobbton is stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
