The Charles J. Colgan Sharks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They took a 69-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Potomac Senior. While losing is never fun, Charles J. Colgan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Potomac Senior is ranked 49th).
It was another big night for Kenny DeGuzman, who scored 29 points along with seven steals and five assists for Potomac Senior. That makes it three consecutive games in which DeGuzman has scored at least a third of Potomac Senior's points. TJ Bethea was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five steals and two blocks.
Charles J. Colgan's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-12. As for Potomac Senior, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charles J. Colgan will square off against Hylton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hylton and Charles J. Colgan are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Potomac Senior won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Woodson at 5:00 p.m. on January 13th. Hopefully Woodson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six last Thursday.
