The South Bend Clay Colonials had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 40-34 W over Elkhart Christian Academy on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as South Bend Clay also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
South Bend Clay's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maliya Freeman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Tyrece Cunningham, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
South Bend Clay's victory bumped their record up to 2-15. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Bend Clay will take on Mishawaka Marian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mishawaka Marian is on a seven-game streak of home losses, South Bend Clay a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Elkhart Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Calumet Christian at 7:15 p.m. on January 11th.
