The New Madrid County Central Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Sikeston Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as New Madrid County Central comes in on 17 and Sikeston on 21.
Last Friday, New Madrid County Central didn't have too much trouble with Jackson on the road as they won 64-48. Given New Madrid County Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Jackson is ranked 58th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Madrid County Central's success was spearheaded by the efforts of BJ Williamson, who scored 22 points along with five assists and three steals, and Jadis Jones, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Jones hasn't dropped below 15 points for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Ra'Mond Brooks, who scored 12 points along with two blocks.
In what's become a running theme this season, Sikeston gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. Everything went their way against Central as Sikeston made off with a 70-47 victory.
New Madrid County Central's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.1 points per game. As for Sikeston, their win bumped their record up to 21-0.
New Madrid County Central couldn't quite finish off Sikeston in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 72-70. Can New Madrid County Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
