First Flight is 9-1 against Manteo since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The First Flight Nighthawks will head out on the road to square off against the Manteo Redskins at 7:00 p.m. First Flight will be strutting in after a victory while Manteo will be coming in after a loss.
First Flight will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Northeastern on Friday. Everything went First Flight's way against Northeastern as First Flight made off with a 15-6 win. The Nighthawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.

First Flight let Lance Jones and Fionn Reilly run wild. Jones scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Reilly scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Reilly also scored three runs, which is notable because First Flight is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dillon Francis, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Manteo's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 7-2 to Holmes. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Redskins couldn't push the score so high this time.
Trevor Sawyer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Manteo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Brown, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Brown is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
First Flight has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.7 runs. Manteo's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. First Flight has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Manteo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went First Flight's way against Manteo when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as First Flight made off with an 11-2 victory. Does First Flight have another victory up their sleeve, or will Manteo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
