The Fossil Ridge SaberCats will square off against the Loveland Red Wolves at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Loveland took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Fossil Ridge, who comes in off a win.
Fossil Ridge took an 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Fort Collins, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The SaberCats had just enough and edged out the Lambkins 9-8 on Thursday.
Luc Gaca-Thiele made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Those doubles were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Fossil Ridge let Mason Clark and Brady Bradford run wild. Clark went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Bradford went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most runs Clark has posted since back in April of 2025.
Fossil Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Loveland's offense. They fell 3-0 to Ponderosa on Monday. The Red Wolves just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Loveland's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Fossil Ridge, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.
Loveland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fossil Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. It's a different story for Loveland, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Fossil Ridge's hitters?
