After flying high against the Lee County Trojans last Saturday, the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets came back down to earth. Thomas County Central fell 45-33 to Veterans on Friday. While losing is never fun, Thomas County Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Veterans is ranked 19th).
Despite the loss, Thomas County Central had strong showings from Travesha Giddens, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Marcy Pearson, who scored 11 points.
Thomas County Central's defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Veterans, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.
Thomas County Central will head out on the road to take on Houston County at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Thomas County Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. As for Veterans, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Northside at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Northside is coming into the contest with six straight losses on the road, meaning Veterans will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
