After a string of 11 wins, the Sparta Academy Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 40-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hooper Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sparta Academy has scored all season.
Sparta Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Krisalyn Johnson and Mary Trainham Brock. Johnson scored ten points along with eight rebounds, while Brock scored nine points along with three steals. Brock set a new season high mark in blocks with two.
Sparta Academy's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1. As for Hooper Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 1-2.
Sparta Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Edgewood Academy at 3:00 p.m. on December 15th. Edgewood Academy and Sparta Academy are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. Hooper Academy will be home for the holidays to greet Evangel Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
