2A-2 Region IV District 14 recap October 1, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A-2 Region IV District 14 this week, Rogers beat Randolph 57-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Jarrell scaled the state rankings by moving to 500 from 652 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cougars were able to move up by besting Lexington 49-18.
Schulenburg's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ross Bludau threw for 107 yards and Javeon Lara had 50 yards receiving. On the ground Lara chipped in 123 yards.
Lara provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Shorthorns bested Johnson City. Lara's favorite target this week was Lara, who caught 3 passes for 50 yards.
Lara was the best running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 123 yards as Schulenburg topped the Eagles. Teammate Dameien Houston added to the ground attack by rushing for 102 yards.
Tommy Bludau's team's Bludau and Jeffrey Lara led 2A-2 Region IV District 14 in both passing and receiving yards. Bludau has thrown for 892 yards this season, while Lara, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 20 catches for 447 yards. The Eagles' Nic Dillon leads the league in rushing yards with 388.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Jarrell takes on Johnson City. The Cougars are currently in third, while Brent Harris' team is in second.
Rogers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 57 points on the Ro-Hawks.
