Keystone is 0-9 against Karns City since March of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Gremlins at 4:15 p.m. Keystone has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Thursday, Keystone didn't have quite enough to beat Moniteau and fell 12-11.
Peyton McElravy made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Josey Wolfe, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Karns City, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Allegheny-Clarion Valley get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Gremlins have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Allegheny-Clarion Valley's batters probably weren't too happy with Abigail Dunlap, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 18 Ks (she gave up four walks). With that strong performance, Dunlap is now averaging an impressive 5.6 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, Karns City let Lily Neff and Nicole Huff run wild. Neff went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base, while Huff went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Ronni Radaker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Karns City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.
Keystone's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Karns City, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Keystone hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Karns City struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Keystone couldn't quite get it done against Karns City in their previous meeting two weeks ago as they fell 10-5. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
