The Seymour Panthers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past Haskell 41-13 at home. The result was nothing new for Seymour, who have now won six contests by 26 points or more so far this season.
Brayden Loyd continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 443 yards and five touchdowns. Loyd is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of David Charo, who gained 130 total yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Haskell had strong showings from Haegen Pinkerton, who rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown, and Montrel Johnson, who rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown.
Seymour's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Electra and 1-7 Quanah (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.7% over those games). As for Haskell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Seymour will head out on the road to face off against Windthorst at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Windthorst is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Haskell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Electra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
