South Spencer hasn't had much luck against Castle recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rebels will host the Knights at 5:00 p.m. South Spencer has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
South Spencer managed to slip by Forest Park the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rebels came up short against the Rangers on Monday, falling 17-7.
South Spencer saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kali Wink, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. Another was Rachel Wittman, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Castle got the win against Evansville North on Thursday by a conclusive 13-3. Considering the Knights have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Castle also got a great performance from Bailey Gravens as she pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Lily Greenwell and Kendall Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Greenwell went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Taylor went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Emma Bruggenschmidt was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Castle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.
Castle has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for South Spencer, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
