Last Monday, Clarksville Christian suffered a rough 53-33 loss at the hands of Pleasant View Christian. While losing is never fun, Clarksville Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Pleasant View Christian is ranked 101st).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brody Cardwell, who scored nine points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Cyler Middleton, who scored seven points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Big Sandy came up short against Bradford on Monday and fell 50-41. Big Sandy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Big Sandy got a solid performance out of Cole Pierpoint, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Pierpoint grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Seth Green, who scored eight points.
Big Sandy struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Clarksville Christian's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7. As for Big Sandy, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Clarksville Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 53.3 points per game. It's a different story for Big Sandy, though, as they've been averaging only 49.4 points per game. The only thing between Clarksville Christian and another offensive beatdown is Big Sandy.
