Trinity Prep has won three straight games at home, while Geneva has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. Trinity Prep will host Geneva at 5:00 p.m. Trinity Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Trinity Prep's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Lake Highland Prep by a score of 5-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The team relied heavily on Adrian Camejo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Brady, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Geneva made easy work of Circle Christian on Tuesday and carried off a 12-5 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.
Will Thigpen and Jeremiah Kavanah made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Thigpen struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Kavanah pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. At the plate, Thigpen scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5, while Kavanah scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Thigpen is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Tyson Hilliard was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Luke Shaw, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Geneva kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.
Trinity Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. Geneva's victory bumped their record up to 14-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Trinity Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Geneva struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Trinity Prep took their win against Geneva in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0. Does Trinity Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Geneva turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
