The Salinas Cowboys will head out to face off against the Monterey Dores at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Salinas 2.4, Monterey 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Salinas is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Willow Glen just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 2-1.

Abi Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Salinas saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gigi Rossi, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Monterey came tearing into Monday's game with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Haybalers. The result was nothing new for the Dores, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ella Myers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Myers was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anaiyah Brown, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in February. Denae Lee was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
Monterey always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hollister only posted an OBP of .250.
Monterey's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Salinas, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Salinas hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Monterey struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Salinas couldn't quite finish off Monterey when the teams last played back in April and fell 4-2. Can the Cowboys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
