Mahnomen/Waubun has gone a perfect 6-0 against Bagley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds will challenge the Flyers at 4:30 p.m. Mahnomen/Waubun is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Mahnomen/Waubun didn't have quite enough to beat Badger/Greenbush-Middle River and fell 4-3.
Leeland Heisler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cade Walz, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Bagley is still winless after their game against Blackduck on Monday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Drakes. On the bright side, the five- run effort marked the Flyers' highest-scoring match to date.
Bagley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Gerbracht, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That RBI was Gerbracht's first of the season. Kamryn Thompson was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Mahnomen/Waubun dropped their record down to 5-4 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. Those road defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bagley, their record is now 0-7.
Bagley's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Mahnomen/Waubun has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Bagley, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Mahnomen/Waubun keep running through batters, or will the Flyers buck the trend?
Everything went Mahnomen/Waubun's way against Bagley when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Mahnomen/Waubun made off with a 16-8 win. Do the Thunderbirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flyers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
