Roanoke Rapids suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Rocky Mount, falling 64-11. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Roanoke Rapids has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Alexis Bednarczyk, who scored five points. Another player making a difference was Shaniah Daniels, who scored four points along with ten rebounds and five blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Roanoke Rapids struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rocky Mount racked up 16 assists.
Meanwhile, Franklinton entered their tilt with Southern Nash with 14 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 15. Franklinton breezed by Southern Nash at home to the tune of 63-32. Franklinton's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Franklinton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mikayla Taborn out in front who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taborn has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rihanna Hunt, who scored 15 points.
Roanoke Rapids has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Franklinton, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
Things could have been worse for Roanoke Rapids, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-38 loss to Franklinton in their previous matchup back in December of 2023.
