Softball Recap: William Blount Comes Up Short

William Blount easily dispatched Baylor on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The William Blount Governors fell just short of the Sequatchie County Indians by a score of 8-6 on Friday. The Governors' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Chloe Merriman was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Trinity Johnson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, William Blount was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

William Blount's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Sequatchie County, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. William Blount will head out to challenge Lakeway Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sequatchie County, they will venture away from home to square off against South Pittsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
